How Christine Van Bloem Survived A Heart Attack and Created The Empty Nest Kitchen

Christine Van Bloem is a heart attack survivor and “reformed butter lover” who is using her health scare to help others. She is the founder of The Empty Nest Kitchen, where she teaches empty nesters through live, online cooking classes to re-learn how to cook for one or two. She’s taught thousands of home chefs with a focus on having fun in the kitchen while promoting what she calls a “healthy-ish vibe.”

Because of the heart attack, Christine transformed her cooking style, moved away from butter and heavy cream to healthier options while maintaining flavor and delight. Her philosophy is that there’s always room for dessert, even when cooking healthfully.

Christine is also the host of the Empty Nest Kitchen podcast and lives in Maryland with her husband. She embodies a "no limit" life by independently teaching cooking classes online, making cooking enjoyable and accessible for empty nesters everywhere. The Empty Nest Kitchen also offers live classes, private events, AND corporate team building events.

Listen to this episode of the podcast to learn what led to the heart attack, about what prompted her to start Empty Nest Kitchen and her wildest dreams about what it can become, about her former career, and what an Age Has No Limit life means to her.
